Fort Snowball was designed to transform Winnipeg’s frozen Red River into an arena for community bonding and outdoor enjoyment, with the goal of encouraging physical activity and social interaction through snowball forts. By planning to use eco-friendly, rentable, and reusable materials, the project aimed to create a vibrant outdoor play area for engaging in snowball battles, fostering a sense of camaraderie and fun during the winter months.

Concept

A Warming Hut on the Red River, Winnipeg

​Bring your friends and make new ones as you warm up through snowball battle! Two forts stand opposed, each made of extruded one meter squares, creating battlements, bunkers, and ramparts to crawl, climb and run through. The forts are quickly and easily assembled through rentable and reusable construction safety mesh and kee klamp structure for fun that will last all winter long. Join a fort and play for the title of Fort Snowball!
